Vertis Environmental Finance has participated in a project on CORSIA implementation, in collaboration with AIRBUS, Indonesia DGCA and Garuda Indonesia. Aiming at capacity building, the objective of the project was to share best practices for CORSIA CO2 Monitoring-Reporting-Verification (MRV) procedures which will come into force from 1 January 2019 for all aircraft operators conducting international flights.
DGCA Indonesia hosted a workshop on December 11-12 in Yogyakarta, getting together participants from AIRBUS, Vertis Environmental Finance, Garuda Indonesia, ICAO Technical Cooperation Bureau and South-east Asian airlines, Civil Aviation Authorities and Associations.
“It is crucial for participants to collaboratively and intensively explore as much information as possible about CORSIA future short-term technical implementation”, transmitted Mr Yusfandri Gona, Director of Flight Calibration Services of DGCA Indonesia who is also the Indonesian Representative in ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), during his opening remarks.
“We are very pleased to see concrete progress on capacity building to reach aviation emissions reduction. CORSIA implementation is possible by working closely with our partners and building long-term partnerships”, mentioned Frederic Eychenne in charge of the Sustainable Aviation Engagement Programme for Airbus.
Mr. David Wibisono, of Garuda Indonesia commented: “Garuda Indonesia was committed to participate to CORSIA from the beginning. We welcome the opportunity to work closely with Airbus and Vertis to demonstrate our capacity to be ready in 2019 when CORSIA MRV will start. That is also for us a key element to reduce environmental footprint for air travel growth in Indonesia”.
Vertis is grateful for the fruitful outcomes and thanks the project participants for their trust. We are committed to help towards the effective CORSIA implementation and are looking forward to further contributing to capacity building.
